Tony Magi, who had alleged ties to organized crime, was gunned down in broad daylight in Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood.
Montreal police say they received a call Thursday morning about a man lying unconscious near a garage door on St-Jacques Street near Beaconsfield Avenue.

“Police arrived on location and found the man. He was shot at least once in the upper body,” said police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
Magi, a businessman with alleged links to the Montreal mafia, was known to police.
In 2005, he was kidnapped. He also survived an assassination attempt in 2008. Both of those crimes remain unsolved.
