Jim Marshall says that he was signing onto his computer this morning when he glanced out the window overlooking the alley that runs past his Caswell Hill home.
That’s when he spotted the three men, one of them on the ground.
“One of them sitting down and two of them standing around him, and then suddenly the two started beating on him. I hit the garage door, went out and hit the garage door opener. They took off, the fellow they were beating on was crawling across the street,” said Marshall.
Jim Marshall says the victim appeared to be seriously hurt. (CBC)”He was definitely in distress. He got up and tried to walk for a little bit, went a few steps and went back down and crawled again. He was definitely hurting seriously.”
In a news release, police said the man had been assaulted with a knife and a hammer. Two suspects were arrested and charges were pending.
Police said the man’s injuries were serious but not life threatening.
Marshall said police cruisers began converging on the street moments after the attack. Within the hour, there were six sedans and SUVs at the corner of Avenue H and 33rd Street.
Another four police vehicles were posted to close off the immediate area.
